Subject: Lotus Notes 8.5 doesn't start on Suse Linux 10
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: Install
Platform: Linux client - SLED
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Always
I am trying to install Lotus Notes 8.5 on SUSE Enterprise Desktop Linux 10.2
After installing the ibm_lotus_notes-8.5.i586.rpm without error, I click the Lotus Notes 8.5 option from the Gnome menu and it does absolutely nothing. Not even the faintest hint of a busy cursor.
From a terminal window I get the following error.
zero:~ # cd /opt/ibm/lotus/notes
zero:/opt/ibm/lotus/notes # notes
bash: notes: command not found
I don't quite understand this message since "notes" is in the current directory
I am new to Linux. My only previous experience of installing an application took me about three days doing the dependency dance. In this instance Notes didn't complain about any dependency deficit so I'm perplexed as to why it does so little when I try to start it.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm keen to have a rummage around Notes 8.5 and see how it performs on Linux.
Thanks
